Elephants and camels trudge alongside businessmen heading to work in their new Mercedes. A family of five on a scooter, mum sitting side-saddle on the back and holding a baby. Dad is the only one wearing a helmet, although he might as well be wearing a hollowed-out watermelon for all the protection it offers.

A guy selling glasses of cold water at the traffic lights; I politely decline for the sake of staying healthy. We pass a line of hundreds of huge, colourful paper ma%acirccheé heads, ready for one of the many religious festivals. A small girl, who's begging while we wait, leans in and puts her head on my foot. There's a giant statue of Hanuman the monkey god under construction, surrounded by bamboo scaffolding, resembling King Kong about to burst out of his cage.

We pass high-rise building, slums, temples and forts. Harjeet busts up a game of street cricket with a blast of his horn, and before I know it, he's disappearing back into the traffic while I'm staggering into the somewhat surreal contrast of an air-conditioned TV studio. Ten hours of recovery before the journey home.
