Campus Life
The residential flavor of the campus is enhanced
by on-campus residence halls and University-owned
apartments as well as a wide range of student
accommodations in the community. All international
students who apply in a timely manner are usually
considered for on-campus housing. An important
aspect of student life at CSU, Chico, is the variety
of student organizations, recreational activities,
and cultural events that contribute to a well-balanced
university experience. Special events such as
Multicultural Night and the Spring International
Festival serve to bring together campus and community.
Area and Climate
CSU Chico is located on a scenic campus in a safe,
small city that has a population of 70,000. The
city is nestled in the heart of northern California's
Sacramento Valley, a few hours by car from San
Francisco and 90 miles (145 kilometers) north
of Sacramento, the state capital. The climate
is distinguished by four seasons, but the winter
is relatively mild, characterized by cool days
and occasional rain. Snow is rare in the valley,
but major ski areas in the nearby mountains are
easily accessible. The summers are warm and dry.
A free bus service offers local transportation
for students. The Chico Municipal Airport provides
several flights daily to San Francisco
