International
Students
The International Student Affairs
Office at UMKC directs the recruitment and admission
of international students and provides an extensive
number of programs and services, including arrival
and housing services, host family and individual
programs, postarrival and predeparture orientation,
visa advising, ongoing cultural and social programming,
and referral and liaison support to academic and
administrative units. There are also campus nationality
groups and the International Student Club.
International student orientation
is hosted by the International Student Organization
(ISO). The three days of orientation activities
familiarize students with the campus and community
and connect new students with attending students
from their respective countries. Community social
and religious groups with international associations
are also in attendance. ISO sponsors cultural
days, shows, and social gatherings throughout
the school year, and the international population
at Florida Institute of Technology gets highly
involved in student government and campus activities.
Intensive language training at all levels is available
through the ELS Centers at Melbourne, and upper-level
English training is provided through the university
along with academic classes.
