Life
UMKC is notable for its ability to offer both
strong undergraduate and graduate programs. There
is an active on-campus life highlighted by more
than 200 student organizations, including a student
government organization, the Activities and Program
Council, and a student-generated newspaper. The
University's four libraries contain more than
1.6 million volumes and 6,800 periodicals. In
the center of UMKC's campus is the Linda Hall
Library, a private institution and a world-class
science and technical library. In addition, there
are many opportunities for participation in sports
or to see UMKC's sixteen sports teams in action.
The Swinney Recreation Center offers fitness,
training, and recreational activities.

and Climate
The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC)
is a comprehensive, public, coed university located
in the heartland of the United States. UMKC is
situated in the center of Kansas City, a metropolitan
center of 1.8 million people. Kansas City's economy
is remarkably diverse, ranging from agriculture
to heavy industry to high technology and telecommunications.
More than 200 of the Fortune 500 companies have
headquarters or regional offices in Kansas City.
The city is located on gently rolling terrain
with an abundance of trees, at the confluence
of the Kansas and Missouri Rivers. The average
temperature from May to October is 72°F (22°C).
