8.00am
The
kitchen starts looking like a car boot sale on a wet
Bank Holiday Monday as Janette unpacks a couple of boxes.

'So,'
Sara asks dubiously, 'what's the plan?' 'Well,
the main issues you raised were no space, nowhere
to study and privacy,' says Janette. 'So we need to
get as much as possible off your floor. And we need
to give you some hidden storage so things look less
cluttered. We'll work something into the window as well
so you have more privacy when your blind is up. As far
as themes go I was thinking, mmm, India meets minimalism.'
9.00am
The
planning complete and with breakfast well and truly
finished, it's time for the hard work to kick in. Janette
uses the jigsaw to cut out 16 triangles of hardboard
to make bracket covers.

10.00am
After
a considerable amount of hammering and glueing,
with some filler for good measure, the bracket
covers begin to take shape. Do
it yourself.
12.30pm
The
wicker chair picked up at a jumble sale is very
faded so Sara is given the job of sprucing it
up. The white paint is very effective but it takes
quite a while as she needs to make sure you get
right into the weave. Want
to do it yourself?
1.00pm
Hearty lunch break.
2.00pm
All
holes and cracks in the bedroom walls have been filled
with quick drying filler and the painting begins. The
roller makes quick work of it but a second coat will
be required to cover up the claustrophobic lemon that
covered the walls before.
