Are you suffering from stress?
Some stress is good for you, but letting it build up past your ability to cope
can make you ill. Choose from the questions below for ones that apply to you to
ask your doctor. If you're frazzled by the pressures of life, speaking to someone
about it will be an enormous relief. The first of our questions applies to everyone.
- I think I'm suffering from stress. How can it affect my health?
- I feel tired most of the time and lose concentration easily what can
I do about this?
- I often feel very anxious and get headaches. What causes this and what can
I do?
- I sometimes get stomach aches. What is this due to and how is it treated?
- I've had a tightness in my chest. Why is this, and what should I do about
it?
- I found I've been drinkíng a lot/using drugs to help me with stress.
How can I get out of this?
- I seem susceptible to illness recently. What can I do?
- I think I've lost interest in sex; is this normal and who can I ask for help?
- I know what's caused me to be stressed. What can I do about it? Who should
I speak to? (Your doctor should be able to refer you to a counsellor for emotional
problems or an organisation like the citizens advice bureau if you have practical
problems in your life).
- How can I learn to relax and who can I go to about relaxation techniques?
