Eats: Quite a lot. On his greediest day he had cereal and toast for brekkie, a Sunday roast and rice pud for lunch, plus snacks of a Kitkat, crisps and Sprite. On his 'diet' day, he only ate a croissant & cappuccino for brekkie, a salad sarnie for lunch and some toast after the pub – eat something, will yer!
Drinks: Only 2 units a day – v sensible, Pete
Smokes: No
Exercise?: An average of 26 minutes walking (the dog) a day

Eric's summary Of the three, yours is the best questionnaire, but don't go getting any ideas – you're far from perfect. It's great that you eat regular set meals, which is much better than snacking on junk all day long, but your still diet contains too many calories from fat and sugar, and is lacking in fresh fruit and vegetables.

As a result, although you're by no means fat, you're still carrying extra weight around the middle and that will just go on inflating unless you decide to do something about it.

Another lifestyle plus is that you drink in moderation, and sometimes go for wine, which is healthier than beer (especially if it's red). [Although some very recent studies have decided that beer is better for you than red wine as it contains more antioxidents, so there.]

Although you're habitually no more active than your housemates, walking the dog for an hour when you visit your parents is just the kind of exercise you should be looking to introduce into your daily routine.

Action plan

1 Watch your sugar and fat intake – instead of all those peanuts, crisps and cake-type snacks, try and eat a banana, a yogurt or a bagel instead. You need to incorporate more fresh fruit and veg a day: you should be eating at least five portions a day. You'll be amazed at how much better this will make you feel.

2 You've got good habits in that your alcohol intake is low and you don't smoke, however like your flatmates, you do need to get some exercise. The dog-walking is good, but you should be doing that three or four times a week; you can do it without the dog, you know. Or if that's too boring, take up something that interests you. There's so much to choose from .
