Voted Britain's Eligible Batchelor Of The Year, DJ Spoony is surprisingly shy about his success with the ladies and his rapid rise to national renown. Richard Benson stole him away from the office crew and into the broom cupboard to get some pointers.

There's a bit of a Diet Coke moment when DJ Spoony ambles into the offices of his dj booking agency in Finsbury Park: keyboards cease their clattering; eyes peep over i-Macs; smiles steal into the mouths of the office girls, and one of them crosses the room to coyly give him a present she's brought back from her holiday in Spain.

The present is a set of novelty mini-forks to eat corn on the cob with. As he unwraps the Lilliput-cutlery, Spoony spins out a Breezy and impressively sincere-sounding conversation about the trickiness of eating said food: everyone smiles; birds are charmed from trees; the atmosphere in the room shifts from a workaday-weekday to bit-of-a-party. It's not until someone mentions 'the radio show, that anything like business resumes.

'The radio show' is the Sunday morning Dreem Teem show that is currently proving such a massive hit for Radio One. Playing garage, r 'n' b and 'anything with a groove', the Dreem Teem - which comprises Spoony, Timmi Magic and Mikee B - have charmed audiences across the country with their quips 'n' cranks, with smooth-o Spoony taking a leader role in the studio. They have also struck a mighty blow for the UK garage scene they came out of, and helped to build.
