'The problem was that at first I wasn't sure who the
date was - Sarah or Mel, the photographer.' [Err, my
fault I'm afraid - rushed the introductions a bit. Can
you be struck off the Matchmakers' Register for that?
- Jon]. 'But once that was cleared up, I thought she
was really attractive and seemed totally natural and
relaxed. I didn't have particular expectations, and
there weren't any nasty shocks.
'We had quite a lot in common and talked about life,
the universe and everything. OK, maybe not - but we
covered our aspirations, previous relationships and
plenty of other stuff. Sarah's a Scorpio, like me, but
no stings were raised or anything.'
We're pleased to hear it, Hugh, as Lifebytes forgot
to pack the first-aid kit.
'We exchanged numbers, and I'd like to see her again.
I don't know if Sarah feels the same. I'll definitely
call her again to go out for a drink but, on the strength
of the date, I can't really foresee it developing or
predict anything. It wasn't fireworks at first sight
or anything. I'd have to find out more about Sarah,
so it's still early days.
'It was a great way to start to find about someone,
though - sitting in a nice open space, rather than a
restaurant where you have to sit there listening to
everyone else's conversations, and it was really made
by the opera in the background. Ideal dating territory!'
